Google will unveil the next Pixel device on October 19, 2021, at 10:00 AM PT, 8:00 PM Nairobi Kenya, 10:30 PM in Mumbai, India, and 04:00 AM on Wednesday in Sydney, Australia. The new pixel comes with a new SoC called Google Tensor and is expected to offer Ambient computing with Google’s own machine learning implementation. Google is a new entrant in the SoC space though it has been making smartphones image signal processors for their previous pixel devices which were touted for their superior image quality. Google said they put all that they had learned for the past 4 years into developing Google Tensor.

Google has promised 4 years of major Android updates and 5 years of security updates. No other company has Apple has managed this feat and it is Good to see it eventually coming to Android. Android device manufacturers were never incentivized to issue updates as their only motivation was to move more units. With competition coming to Android, device manufacturers will now put more effort into offering long-term support to keep customers.

The devices will cost $599 for the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro is $899 for the $128 GB model.
