Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is Qualcomm’s line of processors that is expected to power Android devices in late 2021and the entirety of 2022. It comes as a successor to 2020’s Snapdragon 888 which powered many high end devices like Galaxy S21 line of smartphones. The name change and aggressive marketing is likely in response to competition from Google Tensor, a system on chip from Google that runs Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is generally an improvement when compared to last years Snapdragon 888. Qualcomm claims a 4 times faster Artificial Intelligence. Improved Image Signal Processor rebranded to be called Snapdragon Sight and can capture 18-bit images with 4,000 more camera data. Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System with 10 Gigabit 5G capability.

Device manufacturers typically fit different hardware on their smartphones and these specifications do not necessarily reflect those in devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in late 2021 and most part of 2022.
