The Lifeline program was started in 1985 and had changed over time to meet the changing needs of the citizens. The two programs are provided by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to eligible households in the united states.
The eligibility criteria for Lifeline and ACCP are
- Medicaid
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Section 8 Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
- Food Stamps / Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- The Veterans Pension or Survivors Pension
- Income below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guideline
You also qualify if you are already part of a free or subsidized government program.

Unlimited data comes with a specified amount of data to be used for high-speed data. Once you’re out of the high-speed allotted data for the month, the internet speed is reduced to 256Kbps. You can always buy more high-speed data to top up your free monthly plan.

Life Wireless provides a free phone if you qualify and enroll for the ACP and lifeline programs. The phone provided is an entry-level smartphone that allows basic communication, emails, and web browsing.
